From Here to Health

My journey back from autoimmune disease

What Went Well Wednesday

You guys have probably figured this out already, but I am having a hard time finding a dedicated time to sit down and blog!  I used to do it in the evenings, but now that I have committed to getting off the computer and other electronic devices by 8:00pm, that is no longer an option.  On that note, I have slept through the night from about 10-6 for the past 3-4 weeks.  That is huge for me, so I feel like the self-imposed electronic restrictions are worth it.  It reduces my blue light exposure in the evening, but it also helps me turn off my mind and pick up something more soothing like a book or a long bath.  All that said just to say that I want to blog more.  It is my intention.  I am claiming now that I will find the time to do it more often.  Hang with me:)

Here’s some of the good things about Wednesday:

1. Had a long bath with epsom salts and a good book.

2. Played checkers with Cooper

3. Read Nancy Clancy with Finn.

4. Read Black Radishes with Presley and Cooper.

5. Listened to Finn read several pages from her reading book. It is so gratifying to hear her read so well.

6. Took Finn to audition for Peter Pan at one of our community theaters.  She may not get a part since there were a lot of kids, but she was the youngest one and I thought she was super brave to get up there in front of all those other kids!

7.  Doug continues to make me the best sweet potato chips ever!

8.  Had lunch with my CrossFit girls today.  We met around 11:45 and we left the restaurant at 2:15.  They are an absolute light in my life!

9. When it was discovered that my chicken had soy sauce on it, Jenn gave me her fish.

10. Natalie gave me movie passes!

Boy is it great to have friends!  I count them among my greatest blessings!

What Went Well Wednesday

I’m not going to lie to you guys, it was hard to come up with a list today.  This is not the post to list my grievances, so I will do that later.

1.  Played a fun game of Mario Yatzee with my boys

2.  Took a walk with my daughter

3.  Watched Rise of the Guardians snuggled up with all three of my babies

4.  We got all of our homeschool assignments done for the day

5.  A baked sweet potato with grass fed butter and cinnamon that hit the spot

6.  My second go at bone broth didn’t make me want to puke:)

21 Day Sugar Detox- Day 4

So far so good!  I have felt a little wonky for short moments, but overall I am doing good without my constant sugar fix!  I have been having the 8oz of kombucha and the daily green apple that is allowed.  I also made some chocolate almond butter cups that she has in the treat section.  Before you get all revved up, they have no sweetener.  They are made with 100% cocoa and the almond butter is unsweetened.  To be honest, they are incredibly bitter.  But when you really feel like you need that fix, they seem to do the trick.  I think I may be eating slightly more food at my meals.  Or maybe not total food, but I feel like I am eating more fat.  Not that it is a problem.  Not that it’s not.  I don’t know.  My breakfast on day 4 was especially good.  It was a variation on a recipe from paleOMG.

Dinner was salmon cakes over salad with the rest of my avocado.  I am in love with Tessmae’s dressing which I generously poured all over the top of my salad, hence the higher fat content I spoke about earlier:)

Since I didn’t go to CrossFit on Monday due to a late wake up and a horrendous sore throat, I went today.  I moved back to my 20 inch box jumps!  Yeah!!  And did a deadlift with no hip pain!  Small victories make me so happy!  Speaking of things that make me happy.  This is my sweet girl diligently working on homeschool while I type this post.  I shouldn’t even get started on things I’m grateful for this morning, but I am too blessed to list it all- sunny weather, glorious night’s sleep, kids who slept through the night, kombucha in my left hand, a child who willing does her homeschool, a husband home early from work….BLESSINGS!

Daily Log

Sleep – 1:00-6:30.  I was having some PVCs and couldn’t get to sleep.  I prayed about it to no avail for 2 hours and then I called my husband (he works nights).  He said he would pray for me too and right after we got off the phone I prayed out loud to be released from any curses that might have a hold on my health. I won’t go into it in detail now, but I had a conversation earlier in the day with a friend about blessings and curses and how in most Christian circles we only focus on blessings, but curses are also Biblical.  Anyway, all I know is my husband and I simultaneously prayed about it and I fell asleep before I even finished my prayer:))

Exercise – 3o minute walk on treadmill @ 4.0, ME workout with 8 & 10 pound weights -made it through 4 full rounds and 1/2 of round 5, 20 minute after dinner walk

Food –

Breakfast – 2 turkey sausages, 1/4 avocado, protein shake – 4 oz almond milk, 2 tsp chia seeds, 1 tbsp peanut butter, 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa

Snack – 1/4 cup raw nuts

Lunch – 4 oz. tuna salad, 2 slices homegrown tomato, 1/2 zucchini ( I slice in on a mandolin and wrap my tuna salad in it), 6 dark red cherries

Snack – handful gluten free crackers, 2 tbsp natural peanut butter

Dinner – It is slim pickins around here so here is what my husband and I threw together:  1.25 pounds turkey meat, 1/4 cup taco seasoning, salt, pepper, 2 green onions, 1 sweet onion, 3 cloves garlic, 3 sweet peppers, 1/4 jar of salsa- The kids ate this over rice and added cheese- I just had the meat mixture, but I did put some greek yogurt on top, then I had a few bites of fresh pineapple
