21 Day Sugar Detox- Day 7

One week under my belt.  And it hasn’t been torture.  Who knew?  I went to CrossFit today even though I had a massive, hormonally induced headache overnight.  As soon as I got to CrossFit and got moving the headache actually went away.  But then, I sort of killed it during the WOD (I beat everybody which hasn’t happened in months) and my headache came back!  The WOD was 21 KB swings and 400 m run- 12 minute AMRAP.  I think what got me was the running in the super cold temps.  I came home and strapped on a cold pack and laid down and it was gone in about 20 minutes.  The rest of the day was pretty low key.  I had this notion that I needed to rest so after Finn and I got haircuts and lunch, I pretty much just chilled at home with one had attached to my kindle.  I did not know what I was missing before I got my KindleFire HD for Christmas.  I thought I wouldn’t like it because I am kinda old school and like the feel and smell of an actual book.  However, I am also a neat freak and have 5 people living in a modest house.  A house where we homeschool, no less, so the books are pretty much coming out of our ears around here.  My kindle allows me to have my Bible, a fiction novel, my latest paleo or health related book, and usually some other nonfiction all going at one time without giant piles of books everywhere.  I also never liked to read on the computer, but this feels different for some reason.  While my boys and I watched Netflix and read books, my hubs and and Finn went to the Daddy Daughter Round Up at church.  I’m pretty sure she gets more dates with my husband than I do!

Day 1

So I would call it a success.  I had my 2 shakes.  Chock full of healthy goodness.  I am not quite able to finish the whole thing.  They start out alright, but with the flax and chia seeds they get pretty thick.  I had an apple with some sunflower butter for a snack.  For dinner I had buffalo chicken lettuce wraps.  I really wanted blue cheese on them.  I mean like a drug addict.  Even though I knew it might make me sick, I still wanted it!  I stayed tough and didn’t have it.  After dinner I went to Starbucks with some girlfriends to chat and catch up.  I had a yummy flavored water.   Not very festive, but it didn’t upset my reflux.  Trade offs, I guess.  I had a little bite of coconut later to satisfy my sweet tooth and that was it.  I woke up this morning with a headache that I am assuming at this point is  a little bit of detox.  I am praying by weeks end I will be feeling a noticeable difference.

Daily Log

Sleep- Better than last night.  I fell asleep easily at 11, but then woke up at 4 with a headache.  I have a scalp massager so I used that and was able to get back to sleep after about 30 mins.  I ended up getting up at 6:30.

Exercise – My first Metabolic Effect workout = 20 mins w/ 8 pound weights & 10 mins yoga cool down/stretch; 60 minute walk

Food-

Breakfast- 2 organic turkey sausages, 1/2 avocado, 1 sliced tomato

Snack – 1/4 cup mixed raw nuts, 1 orange

Lunch – 4 oz crabmeat salad with avocado (same as yesterday); 1 cup organic strawberries

Snack – 1.5 oz dark chocolate, 1/2 orange

Dinner – handful almonds, 2 oz cheese, 1 orange

Other – The headache was gone when I got up at 6:30 and didn’t come back. Yeah!!
